Hello, my name is Mary and I am raising funds to help with my daughter’s medical bills. My 19-year-old daughter, Leah, was hit at a high rate by another car when she actually had the right of way. The impact of the crash was so severe that my daughter had to be cut out of her car in order to be rescued by the fire department and paramedics. Once out, they realized that her injuries were so severe that she had to be rushed to a trauma center. My daughter had to undergo emergency surgery on her right knee, which was completely shattered. She will be in a brace for 9 weeks, will need the aid of a walker and a wheelchair, will have to have physical therapy in order to regain strength in her right leg, and will need 24/7 care. The surgeon has indicated that she will have issues with that knee for the remainder of her life. She lost her ability to go to work, her car was completely totaled, and I had to take FMLA in order to care for her, which means I also will not be working. It is a blessing that she survived and will eventually walk again; however, this has completely changed our lives. The medical bills alone are astronomical.
