Hello Everyone,
My name is Camryn Santa Lucia, and the beautiful woman you see in the photos is my incredible mother, Laura Santa Lucia.
If you know my mom, you know she’s one of the most caring, kind, and hard-working woman out there. She is selfless to her core—always putting others before herself—and she lights up every room she walks into. Her presence brings warmth, joy, and a radiant energy that makes everyone feel seen and loved. She’s a devoted mother of four, a proud grandma, a full-time LPN at a nursing home, and most importantly, my best friend.
Recently, my mother underwent Mohs Surgery and Reconstructive Surgery after a multi-year battle trying to get answers for a persistent spot on her forehead.
Back in 2018, she noticed a strange spot and promptly visited her local dermatologist. Without a clear diagnosis, they attempted cryotherapy to freeze it off. Unfortunately, it returned in 2019, and again they used cryotherapy. In 2020, the spot came back once more. This time, a biopsy was performed, but the results were inconclusive—it was brushed off as a possible sunspot or lentigo.
Still unsatisfied and concerned, my mom returned to the dermatologist in 2022. They tried micro-needling, which did nothing. In 2023, she went back again and received more cryotherapy, but this time the spot worsened. It grew larger, darker, and more concerning. The dermatologist then recommended bleaching cream, which again had no effect.
By 2024, my mom took matters into her own hands and reached out to Roswell Park. There, they performed biopsies—and finally, we got a real answer: it was pre-melanoma in situ.
She has since undergone two surgeries. The first was Mohs surgery, where layers of skin were removed one by one until all the melanoma was gone. Four days later, she had reconstructive surgery, during which they were thankfully able to stretch her skin to cover the wound.
Recovery has been slow and challenging, but my mom is a fighter.
With today’s economy, it’s hard for me to even support myself. That’s why I’m reaching out to ask for your help—so I can help my mom during her recovery. She deserves peace, comfort, and care after everything she’s gone through. Any donation, no matter how small, will go directly toward her medical bills, groceries, and recovery care.
With my mothers birthday coming up April 10th, more than anything, I want to relieve some of the stress and fear of falling behind—when all she should be doing right now is focusing on healing.
Please consider donating or sharing this with others. Let’s come together and support the woman who has always supported everyone else. Also please pray that everything heals normal and that my mom won’t have to undergo surgery again.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you.
