My name is Laura Kirar and this is my dream social project: MICHO'S MERIDA MOBILE Vet or The M3 for short!

I am an empathetic animal lover, a dog rescuer, and an advocate for general animal welfare and responsible overpopulation reduction. I'm appealing to you to join me and my team in making The M3 Vet a reality! With your help, we will provide medical care, medicine, and food to animals in need in the effort to eliminate disease, overpopulation and unnecessary suffering of animals in our corner of Merida. I have been part of the community here since 2008 - along with my husband, Richard and Micho - our rescue chihuahua - and currently 14 other rescue dogs (all saved from the streets) of the Yucatan.

Together, we can be a group of locals and international contributors with a common dream: to bring health, hope and compassion both to animals and people in our state of the Yucatan. Our goal is to fund and operate a mobile veterinary unit - The M3 Vet - that can go anywhere the need is greatest: distributing food, vaccinations, general medical care and even performing basic surgery - such as spaying and neutering - in an effort to prevent more stray, abandoned and neglected animals from enduring a terrible life of suffering.

Additionally, we envision supporting the immediate community's interest and involvement in the effort to help animals! Here in Merida, there are many pet owners and animal lovers who take care and have concern but do not have the means to act effectively when an animal is truly in need. Inexpensive spay and neutering services are not easily accessible to them and those who are spearheading that effort are not financially supported enough. Help the M3 support them and support the communities they service! For the M3 will appear and support or initiate events that include family participation and education and free or low cost animal services right in their driveway.

This will be a big effort but one that will make a difference in many lives both animal and human.
