Hi, I’m Bea, the founder of Magic City Fabric—a one-of-a-kind fabric and maker space coming to Birmingham! Our goal is to create a welcoming place where fiber artists, sewists, and crafters can find high-quality materials, take inspiring workshops, and connect with a vibrant creative community.

After years of dreaming and months of planning, we’re so close to making it a reality! But we need your help to secure a storefront, set up our space, and stock the shelves with amazing fabrics and supplies.

Why We’re Crowdfunding Instead of Relying on Loans
Starting a business is a huge financial commitment, and in today’s economy, taking on significant debt can be risky. Many small businesses struggle under the weight of loan repayments, which can limit growth and stability. By raising funds through this community-driven campaign, we can build Magic City Fabric with more financial security, keeping our focus on serving the community rather than paying off debt.

Your support allows us to open debt-free (or with minimal loans), giving us the flexibility to invest directly in high-quality inventory, equipment, and programming that benefits our creative community. Every dollar raised brings us closer to a sustainable and thriving space for makers in Birmingham.

 Stocking an incredible selection of natural garment and quilting fabrics along with sewing and crafting notions

Offering workshops and classes for all skill levels

Purchasing essential equipment like sewing machines and a large-format printer

Funding Breakdown
To be fully operational, we estimate our startup costs at approximately $135,800, covering:

Rent, utilities, fixtures, build-out – $40,800

Initial inventory – $50,000

Equipment (sewing machines, sergers, tables etc.) – $20,000

‍ Operating expenses & marketing – $15,000

 Other costs (permits, legal, software, insurance, etc.) – $10,000
With your help, we aim to raise $60,000 through this campaign, significantly reducing our need for loans and creating a strong foundation for Magic City Fabric.
