Help Me Celebrate Sobriety and Reunite with My Mom After 15 Years

Hi, my name is Krista Russell and I’m currently on a deeply personal journey of healing and recovery. On January 11th, I made the life-changing decision to enter treatment for alcoholism. After four challenging but rewarding months, I’m proud to say I’m doing great. I will be graduating from the Milestones recovery program on May 13th—just two days after my birthday!

To mark this major milestone, I’m planning a very special trip: I will be visiting my mother for the first time in 15 years. She turns 83 on June 2nd, and I can’t think of a better gift for both of us than being able to hug her—sober, healthy, and hopeful.

A dear friend has generously purchased my train ticket, and I’ll be arriving on June 26th to spend two weeks with her. But after four months in recovery, I don’t have any money to spend while I’m there. I’d love to be able to take my mom out for a birthday meal, surprise her with a small gift, and contribute something during my stay.
