Korey was admitted to the hospital for asthma complications on Tuesday, September 16th. Sadly, his health continued to decline, and he was put on a ventilator early Wednesday morning and put into a medically induced coma. While at the hospital, they determined he had Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome and pneumonia in his lungs, both considered life-threatening. Korey's health continued to decline into Friday, and the doctors made the decision to put him on ECMO, a life support system that oxygenates the blood while the lungs heal. While on ECMO, Korey has made great progress, but he still has a long road of healing ahead of him. The cost of ventilation, coma, and ECMO is astronomical, and Korey will not be able to return to work until his body is healed. Anything to help ease the financial burden during this crisis is appreciated.
