Hi! My name is Kathy Schuetz, and I am trying to help my long-time bestest gal pal and her family make it through the financial unrest of cancer! Kerry has stage 2 breast cancer, and it is in her lymph node and it is aggressive. She had a cold for 3 weeks, but the lump on her breast did not go away when the cold did. She and her husband John have 3 beautiful children, a daughter and two sons, a home, and a normal small-town life. John works for a local department of public works and served as a Marine during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Kerry is a school lunch lady and has another part-time job baking bagels in the wee hours of the morning. Kerry will be doing chemo cocktails for the next 5 months, then surgery, and then more chemo and radiation. The chemo brain has already set in, so she has issues focusing on everyday tasks and is not able to drive due to the spacey feeling in her head. She had to take a leave of absence from both jobs. So on top of the cancer, she now deals with anxiety, sleepless nights, and stress on how to pay bills for the next 8 months or longer with only one person bringing in money to support the family. She has a positive attitude, but I am concerned that the great attitude will disappear as these other issues weigh on her and John. She is always doing for others and already cut her long blonde hair off for Locks of Love and just recently had her head shaved as she was already losing clumps of hair. The family needs all the love and support from friends, family, coworkers, neighbors, and anyone who has dealt with cancer. It is difficult to watch her and the family go through it every day, and I feel helpless, so this is my way of trying to help them. I love her and her family very much and want her and I to ride off into the sunset doing the shenanigans we have always done. So please find it in your heart to help this family maneuver through the financial side of cancer so that they can just focus on her kicking cancer's ass and getting back to living life and enjoying every day with her husband and children!
