Kennedy DeLap has recently been crowned Miss North Dakota with the opportunity to go next month to the Miss America pageant. To know Kennedy is to love her, and by extension to love her horse, Ella.

Kennedy is amazing example and role model to the young woman at our barn and those of North Dakota, a true representation of beauty being more than external, but also she is breathtaking. An example of true North Dakota grit, and determination.

I was recently shocked to hear that to compete in the Miss America pageant a significant majority of cost falls on the CONTESTANT shoulders. She has never once complained about this financial impact has but taken this in stride as part of the journey.

On top of this expense, her beloved Ella has had some major health issues. Just this past week she has had emergency surgery and now is colicing, thus adding more expense to Kennedy and her family during an already expensive time in her life.
