Hi, my name is Samara Malone, and I’m reaching out to share a deeply personal and tragic experience that has affected my life and my family. My 26-year-old daughter, Kemberly Brewer, was involved in a devastating car accident on Wednesday, July 16th. The impact of the accident was catastrophic: her entire left leg was amputated at the pelvis, her right leg was broken, her pelvis was fractured, and she suffered lacerations on her forehead and stomach.
That evening began like any other. We were out enjoying ourselves, and as we made our way home around 10:15 PM, I noticed Kemberly was speeding. I immediately called her, urging her to slow down. She reassured me that she had it under control, so we ended our call. A traffic light then halted my progress while Kemberly kept moving ahead.
When I tried reaching out to her around 10:20 PM to see if she needed anything from the store, she didn’t answer. I called her multiple times, feeling a growing sense of worry. As we got closer to home, we passed a serious car accident and remarked on how terrible it looked, completely unaware that it was my precious daughter.
When I finally pulled into the driveway and realized Kemberly still hadn’t returned, something told me to check her location. Heart racing, I was crushed to see she was at the scene of that terrible accident. I rushed there, and when I saw her hanging out of the car, the sight filled me with despair. I felt utterly helpless. In that moment, I only saw her upper body, completely oblivious to the fact that her foot had been severed in the crash.
Emergency responders had to cut her out of the vehicle, and once we arrived at the hospital, I had to make the gut-wrenching decision to consent to the amputation. I haven’t been able to work since, choosing instead to stay by her side throughout this harrowing journey.
Kemberly will need a prosthetic leg and will face numerous surgeries and extensive therapy in the upcoming months. I’m reaching out for support because any help you can provide would mean the world to us during this incredibly challenging time. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. ❤️
