A message from Kelly’s family

Hey everyone, we want to start first and foremost by thanking everyone from the bottom of our hearts. We are blown away by the support we have received and cannot find a way to express our gratitude enough. No one can prepare for the unexpected, so the funds donated will help tremendously. More than anything, we want to thank you for the love and community we have received over the past year.

An update on Kelly’s health - On 1/15/25 Kelly was released from her rehab facility following her recent hospitalization and was ready to continue her healing process at home, with her family. On 1/17/25, she faced a lapse in her health, causing need for another hospitalization. After giving Fairview/U of M 4 changes we decided it was time to go to the Mayo Clinic. Within a day at the Mayo, they told us they suspected Kelly had Lung Cancer instead of an Auto Immune problem, and they were correct. The plan now is working hand and hand with the Mayo Clinic to formulate a plan to fight the cancer. Since last Friday 1/24 Kelly has undergone major surgery to biopsies a mass in her lungs, she has made it out of ICU, tomorrow she will leave the PCU and go to the lowest level care unit in the hospital. Then we will be going home to work on getting her strength back and fighting the Cancer. Once again, we love you and thank you all for you support.

In late May 2024 Kelly was unexpectedly hospitalized for 28 days - she was unable to walk, lost her motor skills and other neurological symptoms. The doctors were not able to make a clear diagnosis, but they believe it to be an autoimmune disease that is attacking her cerebellum and has left her in a wheelchair and relearning how to walk, etc. She spent another 21 days in a rehab facility working her ass off to get home.

Since coming home in July, Kelly has been in and out of the hospital and has recently faced a few setbacks. She is back in the hospital and prolonged use of steroids to control her autoimmune disease has caused situational diabetes.

She expects to be released back to the rehab facility in the next week or so and is committed to continuing her journey on walking again. Though this last year has been full of twist and turns Kelly's attitude and faith as remained unwavering and she is determined to get well.

With the start of the new year, Kelly's insurance deductible will start anew and there will be more bills to pay for her continued physical and occupational therapy as well as the drugs she needs. She could also use a better wheelchair, etc. etc.

So, please give if you are able to help Kelly and her family handle all this financially.
