This is my beautiful sister Kelly. She recently had to have open-heart surgery due to heart failure, for the second time in 5 years. Here is a glimpse of what she went through in the last few weeks, in her own words...

"After 18 long days in the hospital, a successful Aortic and Mitral valve replacement, and a Tricuspid valve repair, and over 9 hours in the operating room, I'm heading home to finish recovering!

Having the initial open-heart surgery only 5 years ago with tissue valve replacement, my lupus attacked them, leading to this surgery with mechanical valves. I started having severe hypotension with my blood pressure averaging 60/40, and my organs were not getting enough blood, so it caused severe dizziness and confusion. I was rushed to the hospital from work and from there transported to Advent Health in downtown Orlando. The team of fantastic doctors, nurses, and surgeons took great care of me.

I wanted to take the time to thank each and every one of my friends and family that supported me through this journey. It definitely wasn't easy. I love you all!"

Kelly has a long recovery ahead of her, not to mention the stress of the long-term issues. It will be months before she can work, and months before her husband Paul can just go to work and not worry about her. She is unable to drive for quite some time, leaving it up to Paul to take off work and get her to her important weekly follow-up appointments.

As you can imagine, things are going to be very tight for them. Not only are the enormous medical bills piling up, but they are also trying to stay on top of the monthly bills that continue to accumulate.

Kelly is the very last person to ask for any kind of help; she doesn't want to lay any of her burdens onto others. However, I know she needs the help, and I'm willing to do whatever it takes to help my sister the best way I can from afar with the resources I have.
