Help Keioui's Surgery Recovery and Healing Journey

Dear friends, family and my shared communities,

After 2 years of consultations with surgeons, CT scans and a few surprise health concerns I will be undergoing surgery for chronic sinuses disease—I’ve had severe allergies since I was a child— then gender affirming surgery in 3 months ( February 5th).

 

I am reaching out to my communities during a time where many people around the world are suffering and fighting to live the full lives that we all deserve. As I continue on my transition journey I have had enormous support but the cost of transitioning medically in a world that is constantly stripping away the rights of trans people is increasingly difficult to navigate.

I finally secured a surgeon for facial feminization surgery but I have to undergo surgery for chronic sinus disease that we discovered during a recent CT scan to be fully cleared for FFS. I have been in contact my surgeons about what will be needed for a smooth and safe recovery. During a 3-4 month recovery period, I will not be able to travel and perform my physically demanding performance work, which is how I support myself financially as an artist.

I am asking for support during my recovery as I will not be able to work. I will be undergoing a series of procedures that will help reduce gender dysphoria and societal pressure to ‘pass’ for a safer life as I live in my truth as a black trans woman.
