Our beloved Scott—known to many as “Hooch”—is currently in the hospital in New York City and has officially been placed on the heart transplant list. This marks a critical turning point in his journey, as he is now required to remain in the hospital for the next 4 to 6 months while he awaits the life-saving gift of a new heart. It’s an emotional time for our family, with the extended hospital stay bringing overwhelming financial challenges.
Scott’s journey with heart problems began in 2003, when he suffered his first heart attack and was later diagnosed with heart disease and congestive heart failure. Over the years, his condition slowly worsened, impacting his ability to work and enjoy daily life. In 2021, doctors placed an LVAD device to help circulate blood through his body and keep him alive. Most recently, a serious blood infection developed on the driveline leading to his heart, bringing him back to the hospital, where he now waits for the gift of a new heart.
Scott’s significant other, Christene, had to retire early to care for him full-time. She and their son, Anthony, have been traveling back and forth from home to be by his side, but with hotel costs in New York City and surrounding areas can be pricey per night, plus travel and other expenses, they’ve only been able to stay for short visits. This has been incredibly difficult for all of them, as Scott draws strength and comfort from having his family close.
If you know Scott, you know his warmth, humor, and fighting spirit. He’s the kind of person who would drop everything to help a friend, crack a joke to lift your mood, and face even the hardest days with courage. We are asking for any help you can give—whether it’s a donation or sharing this page—to help ease the burden on his family during this difficult journey.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your love, support, and prayers.
From the families of Scott (Hooch) & Christene
