My name is Rachel Smith. I'm at risk of going back to jail for driving on a suspended license, and if I do not get my driver's license back before the court date on October 9th, I will be back in jail, they said. I'm even more at risk for being homeless and losing my three dogs. The last two times when I went to jail, that exact thing happened. First, my dog, Jewels, passed away before I was released, and once I was released, I got kicked out and lost everything on top of losing my dog. Last year, on September 17th, my other dog, Opal, came up missing and has not been found yet, once again while I was in jail. I can't take another loss. I have three beautiful dogs: mom, dad, and baby, and they all adore me. I am supposed to protect them, but I cannot do that if I am in jail, whether it be for a day or a year. It's one too many. Anything can happen from day to day, and it would drive me absolutely insane being in there, not knowing or being able to protect them. I need help, please. My account was sent to a collection agency, so I have to pay $560 to them and $60 to reinstate my license. I could really care less about having my driver's license because I don't really drive. I just need to stay out of jail so I don't lose another fur baby or my place to live.
