Hi, my name is Mikayla, and I am a single mother of two young boys, Dominic (5) and Giovanni (3). On October 15th, we were in a car accident that totaled our only vehicle. Thankfully, we survived—but the impact of losing our car has made an already difficult situation even harder.

I am the full-time caregiver for both of my sons, and my oldest, Dominic, has a rare degenerative neurological disease with a shortened life expectancy. He is also autistic, and so is my youngest. We rely on consistent transportation for therapy appointments, medical specialists, school, and basic daily needs. Without a reliable vehicle, everything—from getting my boys the care they need to earning income—becomes nearly impossible.

Insurance will not cover enough for me to replace our car with something safe, reliable, and large enough for medical equipment and two car seats. I am doing everything I can, but the financial gap is bigger than I can bridge alone—especially while navigating my sons’ medical needs, my own recovery from the accident, and the daily challenges of being a single mother caregiver.

I’ve always been independent, and I don’t like asking for help, but I will do anything for my boys. I want to give them the best life possible while I still have the blessing of time with both of them.
