Hello, my name is Makeda, and I am currently a senior at Coppin State University, pursuing my degree while playing on our women’s lacrosse team. This year should be the home stretch—a time of excitement, hard work, and looking ahead to the future. Instead, I’ve found myself facing an unexpected financial hardship that is threatening my ability to complete my education.

Earlier in my college journey, I made a life-changing decision: I gave my life to Christ. Since then, I’ve been committed to walking in faith, standing firm in my beliefs, and living each day with purpose. My journey hasn’t been easy, but it has been filled with growth, determination, and the desire to make a difference in the lives of others.

As a first-generation college student and an athlete, I’ve balanced academics, sports, and personal challenges with the goal of making my family proud. My dream is not only to graduate but also to use my degree and experiences to help support my family and give back to my community.

Unfortunately, an unforeseen financial setback has put my tuition and final year in jeopardy. I have already reached out to campus resources, applied for assistance, and sought opportunities to work, but I am still short of what I need to continue.
