Donate to Keep Kim Lawrence Safe and Healthy

My name is Dan Nguyen and I’m starting a GoFundMe to help my very dear friend, Kim Lawrence, survive a very horrific semi-truck gas tanker accident and subsequent stairwell fall. She’s permanently disabled with fibromyalgia that stemmed from a Toys R’ Us pallet accident in her early life. Since then, she experienced a series of unfortunate accidents that have really set her back physically. She was hit by two drunk drivers from 1980-2000 and fell on black ice in Idaho in 2017. With the compounded pain of all her injuries, it has been extremely difficult for Kim to get back in the workforce since she moved back to Los Angeles in 2019. Even as a CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner, Kim could not find work and has had to live off Social Security Benefits since. In 2024, she was hit by a gas tanker as they were sharing a neighborhood street. The gas tanker didn’t have the right of way and would not halt nor get out of the way to let Kim’s tiny car squeeze by. Kim, however, moved to the side as best as she could to give the truck the right of way, but the gap was too tight, and the truck impaled her car with its side step spoke and shook her back and forth in order to get her unstuck against her will.

Kim’s been in tremendous pain this whole time while submitting herself to a multitude of treatments, including two eye surgeries to repair her optic nerve and a shoulder surgery. The process has taken a lot of life force out of her, but she persists as she’s done her whole life, always against the odds.

Currently, Kim is fighting the insurance company in litigation. Her attorney has explained that the process may take over two years and has not been able to advance her any more funds to cover her rent or storage units. With me as her only friend with no living family around her, I’ve been helping her survive and get through this temporary storm. I have been unemployed from television production for over a year and am driving Lyft now to make ends meet. I do everything I can to help her eat, get to her appointments, and be there for her at all times. I've done everything in my power to keep her afloat for the last 6 months, but now am needing the help of much more than myself.

Kim is a celebrated songwriter, artist, and poet, creating healing content on her Instagram page that inspires people all over the world to be a better version of themselves and make good in this world. She’s sung live as the artist Jenny Alexander for many FM Radio Weekend Live shows all throughout Southern California. She’s working on a rock opera with all original songs she’s produced over her lifetime with the help of legendary musicians from bands like Journey, The Eagles, and Toto. Kim loves animals and has made them her life mission. When she passes, she wants to donate everything she has to helping animals and animal owners in need. She’s a proud Southern California native who attended both USC and UCLA, ultimately graduating from USC with a Master’s in Accounting. She’s also a BMI Composer and former member of the Television Academy. She is the bubbliest, warmest, sweetest woman with a heart of gold that cannot wait to get healthy again and contribute to continuing to make the world a better place. To keep her from being displaced and ultimately get her health back, we are asking for donations to cover as many months of rent as she can in order to stay alive to see the outcome of her case. Battling fibromyalgia plus the worsening injuries and all the financial stress has really put a burden on her mentally and physically. With the donations, we can also access her storage to begin selling all her items. She’s been too physically weak to even take to the storage unit to sort those types of things out since I’ve been in her life. Before that, no one would ever step up to help her in any situations like that. Having security of welfare is the most important thing to setting her forward on her path. Kim dreams and dreams of a life where she can get healthy again, get back to singing, painting, and writing poems that help people all over the world.
