Greetings friends,
We're creating this to reach the end of a long, hard journey. Our family moved to Florida in 2018 and has been repeatedly knocked down by circumstances. In 2018, my wife Kathryn had to lose half of her left lung due to a one-in-a-million fungal infection even the world-class specialists had trouble identifying because it is so rare. We lost everything but scraped back to almost even over time. Then, on Christmas 2023, our car was stolen from our driveway. Again, we did everything we could to bounce back. In 2024, Kathryn had to leave her job with Walt Disney World to have spinal surgery after she lost all sensation in the left side of her body. Then, we lost almost everything we own when our house was overrun by black mold. Again, with the help of our village, we bounced back.
I don't share all this as a sob story. I share it to illustrate how hard we have worked in the face of repeated devastation to get back on our feet and push forward. For ourselves, and for our four children. We have repeatedly gotten so close, only to be knocked backward again.
In November, you helped us as Kathryn was hospitalized for a misdiagnosed illness. She made it through, and we began anew. But just as we were taking our first steps, we were knocked down by a $3,000 car bill, erasing all the progress we had made in an instant. We have not made rent, and the deadline is approaching.
I ask for your help now because we have not given up, but our options are limited. The timing is horrendous, and we will not let our children lose the roof over their heads at Christmastime. I need to ask your assistance to help us pay our December rent and ensure we have the funds necessary to keep our positive momentum. We have been blessed over and over again on our journey with selfless, generous friends who have kept us from completely falling apart. We thank you and ask for your help one more time. We are SO. CLOSE. Thank you, and God bless.
