Hello Everyone My name is John, I never thought that I would have to swallow my pride to make a post like this in my life but here we are.
As many of my family and friends already know I have been battling terminal end stage liver Failure for the past year. I had to leave my job in late 2023 after being told that I was most likely going to die without a liver transplant and that I should focus on getting my affairs in order and contact hospice because my chances of being put to the top of the list was slim. Fighting for my life this past year, Being in and out of the hospital, endless procedures and tests and preparing my Wife, Daughter and Grandson for the possibility that I was not going to make it to the New Year has left me at my absolute lowest.
being as sick as I was I could not provide for my family as I always have and had to become the one being taken care of. Unfortunately, during this time, I missed almost a year’s worth of rent and utility payments. Thankfully, I had some help with some of the utilities as far as discounted rates and some charities to assist with the gas and electric bills and during this time I had also applied for SSI due to my situation but that took many months to be approved and start getting any money back into the household. I payed what I could to the back rent and current rent but it wasn’t enough to square away the entire bill.
During this struggle I always stayed as positive as I could so that I could focus on just getting better and trying to make the last of my days as happy for my family as possible and prayed that a Miracle would come in the form of a new liver. In October of 2024 that miracle happened and god answered my many prayers. I received my liver transplant and I am just so thankful and blessed to still be here with my family and continue to see my grandson grow a bit more.
But Alas, In March 2025 my wife & I Received an eviction notice and just had court the beginning of May and was told that even though we have paid the monthly rent & bills since receiving my SSI, because of the back rent we only have until August to pay the rent in full or we will be Evicted despite the Judge knowing that it would put me a life-threatening situation to be in that environment as my immune system has not been fully restored yet since my transplant. I have applied to RAFT and I am eligible but I will still owe an additional $4k after their assistance to save my home.
If you have read this far, I want to say thank you for reading my story and at the very least please keep myself and my family in your prayers and if you are able to contribute even a few dollars to help me reach my goal I would be forever grateful to you in helping me save my home and finally be on track to piecing my life back together after this long and exhausting battle.
