Help Keep Independent Webcomics Alive

Donation protected
If you’re new here: this page exists because a group of readers asked how they could help keep this work going, and ongoing support is how new pages continue to be made.

These webcomics aren't backed by famous publishers, but rather created and released as resources become available to pay the artists, and reader support is what makes that possible, allowing for consistent updates.

And it's not about "donating"; it's more about becoming one of the people who makes sure these webcomics don’t disappear - and that more webcomics can be produced. You're essentially our bosses. =)

Who We Are

We’re a small team of writers and artists who’ve been creating original webcomics for nearly a decade - and with decades of previous comic and professional animation experience. We publish three ongoing series through Scribes Unlimited Press: The Depths, Insignificant Otters, and Island Girls — covering humor, adventure, romance, fantasy, and horror.

Meet the Team

• Paul Kraly (Paul Driggere) – Screenwriter, author, and lead creator. Co-creator of The Depths, Insignificant Otters, and Island Girls.
• Paula Amaras (P.A. Amaras) – Writer and co-creator. Pinnacle-Award-winning author of Shadows in Light with hundreds of published stories.
• Jim N. Jimenez – Comic & animation artist (X-Men, Disney’s Gummi Bears, Biker Mice From Mars). Current illustrator on Insignificant Otters.
• Jay Jimenez – Writer, illustrator, and animator with decades of experience in Philippine comics and Disney Studios.
• Antman – Veteran comic illustrator (DC, Marvel, Dark Horse, Star Wars, Batman, Red Sonja, Vampirella).

Our Webcomics

We’re currently producing three ongoing series, each with its own unique flavor:

The Depths – Adult “furry” adventures of sea otters in danger, romance, and epic underwater storytelling

Insignificant Otters – Hilarious webcomic strip about two shipwrecked otters trying not to kill each other on a deserted island.

Island Girls – Tropical mysteries and romances set in 1940s Bora Bora during World War 2.

Webcomic concepts we'd love to create next:

Currents: About an oceanographic team transported to a whole other water-world and trying to survive and find love with the help of some beautiful water nymph aliens.

Horrors: Short-subject webcomic stories in the same vein as "Tales From the Crypt" "Creepshow", and more.

Torpedo Vixens: A variety of sexy fox-girls trying to make it in the Underwater Torpedo League, similar to water polo.

Luana: A bold, historical webcomic about a princess pearl diver balancing romance and intrigue as she tries to solve a deep-sea murder.

Tabitha: A runaway feline princess from another dimension and a high school outcast become unlikely allies to battle a vengeful wizard bent on revenge and power.

What Your Support Does

Every dollar goes directly toward keeping these webcomics alive. Our monthly goal is $1,500 — enough to pay the artists, maintain the sites, and make sure new pages continue instead of going dark. Currently, we’re only covering about 10% of that, which means every new supporter genuinely changes the time the next page is created.

Your support pays for:

  • Artists who draw the pages you read
  • Writers who plan and script each episode
  • Website hosting to keep the webcomics online
  • Tools and software needed to create

When fully funded, it also allows us to:

  • Increase update frequency
  • Bring in additional artists for our new projects
  • Produce print editions and special releases

Our Current Expenses:
  • Two new pages of "The Depths" each month: $500
  • Two new pages of "Island Girls" each month: $500
  • Two new pages of "Insignificant Otters" each month: $300
  • Websites maintenance/Advertising/Promotion: $200

Total: $1500 per month desired

As you can see, this isn’t about getting rich — it’s about keeping these awesome webcomics going.

Monthly Supporters

Some readers don’t just want to enjoy the comics — they want to ensure they continue. Monthly support provides stability that helps us:

  • Fund completed pages and chapters
  • Keep multiple creators paid consistently
  • Reduce delays caused by unpredictable costs
  • Plan projects months ahead instead of week-to-week

Supporters at this level often:

  • Receive regular updates and behind-the-scenes glimpses
  • See works-in-progress, sketches, and new ideas first
  • Have their feedback heard when shaping future projects
  • Are recognized as part of the core group making this work possible

Why Some Give $100+ Monthly

Higher-level supporters help us plan for the long term:

  • Greenlighting new projects
  • Supporting creative experimentation
  • Protecting creators from burnout and sudden funding gaps

Join Us on Our Webcomic Journey

Creating and publishing these webcomics every month isn’t free. Between writing, art, hosting, and the time it takes to make everything you read here, we need about $1,500 per month to keep running in a healthy, sustainable way.

Right now, we’re supported by a small number of recurring readers, but we’re still well below that level — which means we’re constantly stretching, delaying, or absorbing the gap ourselves. A few more people stepping into ongoing monthly support would make the difference between barely getting by and being able to create these stories the way and speed in which they deserve to be created.

If you’re reading this, you’re already one of the people these stories were made for. The only question now is whether you want to be one of the people who quietly keeps them alive.

A small circle of readers carries this entire project month after month. When someone joins that circle with a recurring contribution — even a modest one — we can keep writing, drawing, and publishing without having to compromise what these webcomics are.

If our webcomics have ever mattered to you, please consider becoming part of that circle today. Monthly support is what makes everything you see here possible.

Thanks so much for reading!
