In 2017, I found myself at a crossroads, uncertain about my future yet driven by a deep desire to work in healthcare. As the first in my family to attend college, I lacked guidance and support, which made my path more challenging. After thorough research, I discovered that Pharmacy resonated with my personality and aspirations.

While fulfilling the prerequisites for pharmacy school, I sought practical experience at Walmart Pharmacy. Initially, I worked as a grocery stocker, but in 2018, I was promoted to a pharmacy sales associate. Eager to deepen my knowledge, I enrolled in Walmart’s Pharmacy Technician Program and became a Certified Technician in 2019, all while studying full-time at Dillard University.

Today, I am proud to be in my third year of Pharmacy school at Xavier University of Louisiana, close to achieving my dream. However, I now face a significant hurdle: I am struggling to pay my school balance for the Fall 2024 semester. Despite my efforts, I have been unable to make monthly payments due to low income and have had no success in securing a co-signer for a private student loan. The school has kindly allowed me to continue attending classes under the condition that I pay the remaining $8,299 by December 16, 2024. If I fail to do so, I will incur an additional 3% interest each month, and if the balance remains unpaid by May 2025, I will be ineligible to continue my studies at Xavier.

I have overcome many obstacles to reach this point, despite the doubts of others who questioned my intelligence and ability to succeed. Their skepticism only fueled my determination. It’s heartbreaking to come so far, so close to the finish line, only to risk losing everything. I am reaching out for assistance to help complete my journey. Achieving my degree would not only make me the first college graduate in my family but also the first Doctor.
