Help Craig get a recumbent tricycle and keep his puppet collection!
I often look around on Facebook marketplace for fun, but I had a moment of sadness when I saw that Craig, a local man who I recognized from around town, was selling his entire puppet collection in hopes of being able to buy a recumbent tricycle. He is often seen around town in his wheelchair advertising his magic and puppetry business.
I thought I would reach out to him on this Facebook marketplace listing, as it seemed like trading his life’s passion was a steep price for a trike. Craig has multiple sclerosis and the post said he needed it for physical therapy. But after chatting with him for a bit he seems to also worry about if he ends up homeless how to transport his beloved puppets. He has a lead on a trailer so that worst comes to worst, he could attach it to the trike and keep them close to him. He mentioned how he doesn’t want to lose his puppets, as they are special and have gotten him through difficult times.
Craig has eyed the recumbent tricycles at All Out Adventures, a local nonprofit that promotes accessible outdoor recreation and has a trike shop in Northampton. However it’s never been a possibility for him to get one due to the price range. I’m planning on meeting up with Craig next week to pick a specific tricycle that will meet his needs, and hoping to get some crowdfunding to support him so he doesn’t need to sell his puppets who have provided comfort and support to him through the years!
