Keep Belle by Her Dad's Side in Michigan

Donation protected
Hello, my name is Belle.

On 9/6/2024, I got a call from my aunt that my dad was in the hospital after suffering from an ischemic stroke and not being found for 48 hours. He has lost the function on his dominant right side and the ability to speak, but has remained cognizant. His life will forever be changed, though, and it's going to be really hard for someone as independent as him. This stroke came as a huge shock because there were no prior symptoms or warnings. My dad quit smoking years ago, he has a healthy diet, and he bikes everywhere he goes for the last decade.

He spent multiple days in the ICU with brain hemorrhaging and clots in his lungs, but we made it out of the woods. Now begins the long recovery process with PT, speech PT, and nursing homes.

My mom and I are working on a lot of the legal paperwork and jumping over red tape. We want the very best for him, and what that means for me is staying here in Michigan, possibly even moving long-term from Minnesota to Michigan.

I am fundraising for myself while I stay in MI and take care of my dad. I am working on transferring my job to a location near me, but if that doesn't work, I'll be looking for new work. I would really love some help while I try and do that because I do not have any income here, and my dad's savings are not large and not something I want to take. I'm staying at his apartment, and I would like to continue to pay rent and be able to stay there so I can visit him every day.

It's really important for me to be nearby and encourage him every day with eating and PT. I don't want his spirits to get low. The doctors have explained that the first 3 months show the most progress in recovery, so I think it's vital that I'm here.

To be transparent with what money would be used on...

His rent a month is about $700.
My bills, including car payment and insurance, come to around $600.
I have to buy food for my dog, that's around $60 a month.
I can survive off of $100 for groceries and $100 for gas.

Just kind of giving an idea of what I have to cover each month.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, it means a great deal to me.

My dad is one of my very best friends. He has always been a kind man who has taught me a lot about myself and other people. He loves video-games, and he is the reason I am so passionate about them. He and I played Diablo 4 together every week, and I'm hoping he can play games with me again some day. This has greatly impacted my family, our friends, and his friends.

Even if you can't donate, please consider sharing, it would make a huge difference for me.
