Hi there, I'm Alicia, and I need some help. Three months ago, I quit my job as a Preschool Teacher and got a job as a Medical Office Receptionist. About a week before my last day of work, I came down with Influenza A and ended up in the hospital for 5 days. I am a Type 1 Diabetic also, and have learned that T1 Diabetes and major illnesses (Flu, Covid, Strep, etc.) make my blood sugar go nuts. I kept going low after I was released from the hospital. In fact, I passed out due to low blood sugar the morning I was supposed to start my new job. I missed orientation. My son found me passed out and called 911. I woke up in the hospital where I stayed another 2 days. I called Oaklawn (where my new job was supposed to be) and I was told because I missed orientation and didn't call (I was unconscious), that I would have to reapply in a year if I want to work at Oaklawn.

I immediately applied to jobs as a medical receptionist on Indeed and Zip Recruiter. I also tried getting back into Bronson and applied to their open positions. I have had a total of 9 interviews and zero Yes answers. I have researched my interview tactics, but I pass every time. I have to keep trying, but the bills are not waiting.

I'm behind on rent (I've already been to court. I have to be out by the 28th unless I come up with 3 months rent by then). DHS won't help because I'm without a job. Neighborhoods Inc. and Community Action Agency are without funding at this time. I'm also behind on my car note. If I don't pay that, the bank will repossess it and there is no way I will get to work once I have a job. I only had a month of savings, and it's already gone.

I hate asking for help. Hate it. I've always been proud to be independent, but now here I am begging for money. I'm embarrassed that I have to do this.

Any funds received would go to my car payment and paying the rental balance off.

If you can donate or share, I would really appreciate it, and will forever be grateful.

Thank you for your time,
Alicia
