My name is Keenon Aguero. I am a delivery driver for Amazon. At the beginning of August, I injured my back while working. I've lived with back pain most of my life and always have pushed through pain and discomfort. So initially, I thought I pulled a muscle and didn't put much thought into it. I didn't report it and tried to push through. I had a few days off, and when my work week began the next week, I was unable to go. After a couple of urgent care visits with no relief, I forced myself to the ER. I received an MRI, and it revealed a herniated lumbar disc on my sciatic nerve. This was two weeks after my initial injury. The ER made me an appointment with Springfield Neurological and Spine Institute. There, it was brought to my attention that this was caused by repetitive movement and was work-related. The DSP (delivery service partner) I work for informed me that I didn't report it at the time and cannot file a workman's compensation claim. I was also informed that I will be placed on the inactive list, my benefits will stop, and I'll have to pay my premium. I've spoken with a workman's compensation attorney. I was told it will be an uphill battle trying to get compensation, but there's a chance. It won't happen in a timely manner if it does. I am still unable to work. My insurance is lapsing, and I am just now able to get into my physical therapy and have an epidural steroid injection scheduled. All this being said, I'm on the verge of losing everything. I'm not one to ask for handouts, but I'm at a point where I'm not sure what to do and need some help financially. Thank you for taking your time and reading this. Anything helps and God bless.
