My name is Sara, and I am in need of help. My 10-year-old son has had a very rough time the last 5 years. In September of 2020, my little boy was supposed to be enjoying his first days of kindergarten, but instead, he was put through a battery of tests that would make a grown man cry. My sweet little boy was diagnosed with Nephrotic Syndrome and spent 2 weeks in the hospital trying to get his fluid build-up under control. Thankfully, he was able to go into remission about 4 months later. But since then, he has relapsed 4 times, had 2 kidney biopsies, and had too many lab visits to count. Through this all, my son has been a trooper. Now, the poor boy is dealing with another health issue.

On September 3rd, Keegan was getting ready for his 2nd day of 5th grade. At 7:05 am, our son had a seizure, something we had never dealt with before. My husband and I rushed him to our local ER, but after only being there for 10 minutes, Keegan had another seizure. Due to the size and ability of our local hospital, Keegan was transferred via ambulance to Children’s Hospital in Minneapolis. They did a CT scan that came back normal, but doctors wanted a deeper look. So, he was sedated for an MRI, where it was discovered he has what is called PRES. They believe it was caused by a sudden rise in his blood pressure. We are currently on day 3 in the hospital. I have had to miss work all week to be here with Keegan, and my husband has also had to take this week off to stay home and care for our other 2 sons. At this point, we are unsure of when Keegan will be released, so I am hoping you can find it in your heart to help us out. Even if you can only share our son’s story, we would appreciate it so much.
