Hi everyone. My name is Kay and I’m a 24 year old girl based in Dallas. Thank you for all of the support I’ve garnered and since I was asked to create a GoFundMe, I thought that I owe you guys at least a little bit of candidness. Last year, I faced, possibly the hardest year of my life. After starting a new job, I woke up a week into training and was unable to walk. I was in and out of surgery for two months and so of course I lost my job. When I was finally medically cleared, I was robbed by a gentleman in LA. Unfortunately, he took not only my cell phone, but he took all of my cards and my license. I’m not sure about other parts of the country, but in Texas you aren’t able to get a new license by walking into the DMV anymore, it’s by appointment only and a closest appointment time was two months out and so for two months, I emptied my savings, trying to stay afloat. The stress greatly took a toll on my already pretty weak body so I was subjected to random fainting spells (still am) which caused me to lose my job. I was evicted, and right after moving into my new apartment and thinking that perhaps the worst was over I was reminded that that is hardly ever the case. Two of my younger brothers, one 17 and one 20 were murdered, and after a thorough investigation of their bodies, we buried them the day before my 24th birthday. As you can imagine, I have been in fight or flight mode for the last year, possibly even my whole life. Poverty is debilitating and grief on top of that can nearly kill you. I am hard-working, but I think everything is finally taking its toll. I was so grateful when someone asked me to make a GoFundMe. I’m so grateful for the kind words. Thank you for seeing me. My goal with this GoFundMe is to, for the first time in 12 months, finally be able to pay off my back fees and to hopefully take a day off work. Thank you for your continual support.
