In early September, Kayla was diagnosed with stage 2B breast cancer. One week later, she and the family moved to Anchorage, and the very next day, she started her treatment process. Over the next eight months, Kayla will undergo chemotherapy, after which she will have surgery. After that, it is currently unknown and depends on how her body reacts to her current treatment plan. This has been a huge life change for the entire family, who were instead planning to spend their winter working in Homer, Alaska, learning a new city together and expanding Kayla's art career.

The good news:

If you know Kayla, you know this hasn't slowed her spirits. She's upbeat as always. You also probably know, she's not one to ask for help but as so many of you have reached out wondering what you can do, we wanted to create a space to do just that.
