Hi, my name is Katie, and I’m reaching out because I need your help.
I’m currently facing $96,101 in medical and personal debt that has piled up while I’ve been unable to work consistently due to serious health conditions.
I live with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS), which requires me to undergo two-hour-long infusions twice a week. Some days, I have to use a wheelchair to get around. On top of that, I also have Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome and severe chronic pain that makes daily life incredibly difficult.
Despite doing everything I can to manage my health and remain active in teaching, engineering, and my community, my conditions have made it impossible to keep up with the costs of care, medications, and living expenses. The medical system isn’t built for people like me, and the debt just keeps growing.
Why I Need Your Help
Medical debt from ongoing treatments, hospital visits, and specialist care
Daily living costs that are hard to cover when my ability to work is limited
Mobility challenges that add extra expenses (wheelchair use, adaptive support)
About Me
Outside of my health struggles, I’ve always been driven to teach, engineer, and give back. I’ve taught hands-on engineering technology courses, worked on energy and automation projects, and contributed to research and cybersecurity. I’m proud of the things I’ve accomplished, but right now, my biggest challenge is just staying afloat financially while trying to get healthy enough to keep doing what I love.
How You Can Help
Any donation—big or small—will make a huge difference. Your support will help me:
Pay down urgent medical and living debt
Afford ongoing treatment and infusions
Reduce the stress of overwhelming bills so I can focus on recovery and stability
If you aren’t able to donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others. Every share helps me reach more people who might be able to help.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you for reading, supporting, and caring.
Katie
