My name is Yessenia Concepcion-Almanzar, and I’m writing this on behalf of my amazing wife, Katherine. Just about three months ago, we celebrated one of the happiest days of our lives — our wedding. We were filled with joy, hope, and excitement for the future we were beginning together.

Not long after, our world shifted in a way we never could have imagined. 2 weeks after saying our “I Do’s,” Katherine was diagnosed with breast cancer and had to prepare to undergo major surgery. In the midst of our newlywed joy, we were facing one of life’s hardest battles.

Everyone who knows Katherine knows she’s always all smiles — the life of the party, the one who lights up every room she walks into. Her laughter, kindness, and positive spirit touch everyone around her. Watching her face this diagnosis with that same courage and grace has been both heartbreaking and inspiring.

Kat is 2 weeks post-op and as she continues her journey toward healing, we are doing our best to stay positive and focused on what truly matters — her health and recovery.
