Running for Karrah – 24 Hour Ultra for a Warrior
This Saturday, I’ll be running a 24-hour ultra marathon in honor of my friend Karrah Teryua — a true warrior who has been battling Acute Lymphoblastic Lymphoma on and off for the past 7 years.
Back in February 2022, I took on the 4x4x48 challenge — running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours — to help raise funds for Karrah’s medical expenses. Now, I’m stepping up again, this time for a full 24-hour ultra, to continue showing up for someone who never stops fighting.
Though Karrah is currently in remission, her journey is far from over. She continues to receive long-term antibiotics to fight a rare infection and travels to IU Medical Center in Indianapolis 1–4 times a month, depending on her current needs. The financial burden of long-term care, travel, and treatment adds up quickly.
This race holds even deeper meaning because before relapsing, Karrah had been training for her first 24-hour ultra marathon. I’m running this in her honor — to carry on the goal she once set for herself and to help ease some of the ongoing financial strain she and her husband Micah face.
If you feel led, please consider donating. All proceeds will go directly to Karrah’s continued care. Your support — through giving, sharing, or cheering from afar — means more than you know.
With gratitude and endurance,
