Donate to Karen Matthews’ family

Last week, we were overwhelmed with sadness to learn that Karen Matthews had passed away, leaving behind her two daughters, Kenya and Reyna, her dog LuLu, and a loving community of family and friends in the Bay Area and beyond. We are raising money for Karen's daughters to help with the inevitable expenses that arise when a loved one is lost unexpectedly.

 

Karen provided a special kind of friendship and hospitality to customers and fellow staff at Chez Panisse for almost 20 years. She had the smoothest ability to make anyone feel at home and a quick-witted, hilarious response to just about anything ready on the tip of her tongue. It will be a painstaking process to replace the sadness of Karen's loss with the joyful memories of her legacy.

 

Please take a moment to contribute something if you can. This fundraiser has been organized by Chez Panisse in conjunction with Karen's family. Chez Panisse, as Karen's former employer, will receive the funds and distribute them to her daughters, Reyna and Kenya, at Karen's memorial at the restaurant on July 16.
