Julian is home now and continuing the healing process. Because he has been our family’s sole provider and will be out of work for the time being, we have created this fundraiser to gather support for our living and medical expenses for our family while he is out of work. Any donation is greatly appreciated, but please only donate if you are able to. These are difficult time for a lot of folks and we would never want to accept donations from someone who is struggling.
Background on Julian’s condition:
On May 31, Julian suffered an epileptic seizure at home and ended up going into cardiac arrest, requiring CPR. He was rushed to the ER the same night and admitted into the ICU with a medically induced coma. Julian spent 4 days heavily sedated until the doctors ran tests to ensure he was not having seizures nor if there was any brain damage due to lack of oxygen during cardiac arrest.
His mother Jennifer and I (Ashley, his wife), were able to be with him the majority of the time asleep and upon waking.
Luckily, once doctors determined that MRIs, CT scans and blood work looked ok, they decided it was time to try and wake him up. They feared it would take hours or days for him to awake. But the neurologist that saw him began noticing positive activity within minutes of being taken off of sedation.
Julian began responding to stimuli, open his eyes and slowly began interacting with people.
Within days, he was walking, talking and cleared to go home. He put his shoes on before the doctor could even finish saying “wanna go home?”
With great love,
Ashley and the Edwards Family
