A Village of Support
From the Mayfield family, JustJuleigh.com, and Juleigh herself — thank you. Every donation, every message, every prayer has been a reminder that none of us walk alone. Your kindness is carrying Juleigh through one of the hardest battles of her life, and we are profoundly grateful.
Because of Lupus, Juleigh’s kidneys are functioning at only 9%. She urgently needs a transplant. This is not a simple journey — it is a monumental undertaking. The surgery will be performed at The Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, two hours from Orlando. Once two matches are identified, the clinic begins a month-long process to prepare for surgery. If a donor comes from out of town, they too must travel to Jacksonville for evaluation.
The transplant itself is intricate: the donor kidney will be placed into a carefully created “nest” within Juleigh’s abdomen, connected to blood vessels and her bladder so it can begin working right away. To help her body accept this gift of life, she will be placed on immune-suppressing medications. Her natural kidneys will eventually shut down completely.
While insurance will cover the surgery itself, the aftercare is immense. The Mayo Clinic requires Juleigh to remain within 30 minutes of the hospital for 1–2 months following surgery, possibly longer if complications arise. The clinic has set a threshold of $45,000 to cover essential aftercare not included in insurance.
Your donations will go directly toward:
• Housing near Mayo Clinic (hotel or Airbnb)
• Lost wages during recovery
• Rent and utilities at home
• Gas and meals for two during her stay
• Home care or private nursing support
• Medications not covered by insurance
If you are interested in being a kidney donor, you can fill out the preliminary inquiry form on the Mayo Clinic website under the Live Donor tab.
To know Juleigh is to love her. She is a fighter, someone who has faced immense health challenges with courage and grace. This transplant is not just a medical procedure — it is her chance at renewed life. She has already given so much to others; now it is our turn to give her the chance she deserves.
Her book, Genderless, Fearless & Fabulous: The Juleigh Mayfield Story, is available worldwide on Amazon for those who wish to support her journey in another way.
Donations can also be made via Venmo and Cash App. For sponsorships or to learn more about fundraising initiatives, please reach out to Juleigh.
With deepest gratitude,
A devoted friend
