Hi, I am Haley and I am trying to raise money to help alleviate the medical costs for the care of my sweet husband, Jordan. About a month ago, Jordan came down with Rhinovirus, which causes the common cold we all know and don't love. After a few weeks, he started feeling better. Then, last Wednesday, he started to feel weakness and pain in his legs, which we were initially told were just residual effects from the virus and that he should rest up and get some fluids in. Well, the fluids and resting weren't helping, and by Monday, Jordan could hardly walk without assistance. We went to his new PCP, who sent us to the ER worried that he might have something called Guillain-Barre Syndrome. After lots of scans and tests, a lumbar puncture result confirmed that he indeed had Guillain-Barre, which is a condition where your body attacks itself, causing weakness/paralysis starting from the feet and going up. This is a condition that can turn south quickly, because if it spreads to his diaphragm (breathing muscles), he will not be able to breathe on his own. Due to the gravity of the syndrome, Jordan was admitted to the hospital to receive IV-iG, which are antibodies found in plasma that will give his body a boost in the reversal process. We are told it may be a long journey back to normal, with a stay in an acute rehab facility included. In that facility, Jordan will get 3 hours of physical therapy a day to regain his strength and balance. Jordan is so strong, and we are hopeful that he will be able to regain his strength and come home soon. We are so thankful for the medical team caring for him. We are so thankful for the support from our family, friends, and you. Together we can do this!
