extremely important edit:
It has come to our attention that Donald Joseph seymour was hit by a car on the morning of September 30, 2025
. The only reason we know this is because the police report has finally come to us and given us this information. As before this, we were unaware of the exact issue that caused his fall, resulting in him meeting 24 hour care and a wheelchair for the rest of his life. We have no leads on the persons responsible for this heinous act.
From the man himself! 10/18/25
~Hey everyone,
I’m finally able to use my phone again, and my son Billy is here helping me post this update. I’m currently at the Rehabilitation Institute of Michigan in downtown Detroit (DMC) — the best rehab center in the state. My insurance company sent me here for a five-week recovery program after a pretty rough accident.
A few weeks ago, I was out riding my bike.. The result? Ten stitches, three pins in my spine, a broken C1 and C2, and a 3-inch screw holding everything together.
At this time I can’t move anything below the neck, other than barely shrugging and wiggling my toes, so there’s a great outlook for the future. The pain is mostly in my neck, and I’ve got some numbness in my fingers, but I’m incredibly grateful that things weren’t worse.
I’m taking it one day at a time. I’m on day 19 of rehab now and feeling stronger each day. I can’t grab or hold much yet, but I’m working hard with my therapy team to regain strength and mobility.
There have been tough moments — especially since I haven’t gone this long without a beer since my Marine Corps days (boot camp and med float, for those who know!). But I’m staying positive and thankful for all the love and support I’ve received.
Oh, and a word of advice — wear your helmet! Mine was sitting in the garage holding my gloves and sunglasses that day. Thankfully, those $15 Speedway shades saved my eye from a much worse fate.
Thank you all for your support, prayers, and messages. I love you all more than I could ever say.
