Dear friends, family, and compassionate supporters,
It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Joel Martinez on November 18, 2024. Joel courageously battled Osteosarcoma, a rare and aggressive form of bone cancer, after being diagnosed on March 10, 2022. Despite his incredible resilience, this devastating disease returned aggressively and took him from us far too soon.
Joel’s journey was filled with unimaginable challenges and moments of triumph. Initially diagnosed with Stage 1 Osteosarcoma, Joel underwent treatment and was eventually declared cancer-free, allowing him to return to New Mexico and resume his life. During his fight, the disease required the amputation of his leg. Yet, Joel’s determination never wavered—he was blessed with a prosthetic that allowed him to walk again, a true testament to his spirit and willpower.
Sadly, the cancer returned, forcing Joel to relocate to Texas earlier this year to be closer to his family and resume the fight. On June 5, 2024, Joel entered the ICU with metastatic disease. Doctors gave him only a 50/50 chance of survival during that first critical battle, but Joel bravely defied those odds.
Now, our family faces the heartbreaking responsibility of honoring Joel’s memory and ensuring he has the farewell he deserves. We are reaching out to you for help in covering the costs of his funeral and memorial services. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help us provide Joel with a dignified farewell and ease the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time.
Your support means the world to us. Thank you for standing with us in love and solidarity as we celebrate Joel’s life and mourn his loss. Please consider donating or sharing this page to honor the memory of Joel, a remarkable young man who left us far too soon.
We will share further details about his services as they become available.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Joel’s Family
