Joe Silva's Healing Journey
Donation protected
In January of 2024, our dad, Joe Silva, became sick with what was later diagnosed as ARDS due to bacterial pneumonia. It was such a severe case that medical professionals had to put him on a ventilator. His health continued to decline, and he was put in a medically induced coma several times over several months. He ended up getting several reinfections of pneumonia along the way. This caused severe lung damage that some medical professionals claim is irreversible. He even went into cardiac arrest and was miraculously revived. Many times, between January and July medical experts told us there was no hope for him to live. Each time, he found a way to let us know that he was still there. In late May he woke up and has been slowly improving since then. He is still not out of the woods but is continuing to improve – slowly. He was able to get out of the hospital. He was released from the hospital in late July and is living with his girlfriend, Victoria, in Klamath Falls. He was left with limited mobility but the heart of a lion and continues to practice walking and working to improve his strength, stamina, and breathing capacity. Dad isn’t able to work, and his savings have dried up. He has applied for disability, but this process is long and complicated.
Dad is usually the one helping others and hates to accept help, so we have set up this gofundme to help him. He has beat the odds and we know he will not give up.
Thank you for taking the time to hear his story.
