Donate to JJ's Life-Saving Journey

Hi friends! My name is Misti Lee. Two years ago, Jeremy “JJ” Waite donated a kidney to me and has given me a second chance at life. This week, he will donate a liver lobe to his step-brother and friend Ian. This fundraiser is to help JJ and his family with expenses during this time. It can be very expensive for the donor and their family; it would be so amazing if his friends could come together to help cover some of the out-of-pocket expenses for the surgeries.

Organ recipients are limited in what they can do financially for the donor and his family, or it looks like they are trying to buy an organ. This is something that I, personally, learned in all my prep work for my transplant. For both of these transplant surgeries, JJ and/or his family have to cover much of the costs of going to and from testing, surgery, and follow-ups, as well as lost wages during this time of recovery. Family members must pay their own gas, flights, food, and other expenses while they are his caretakers. Most of his recovery will be in hospitals and hotel rooms in San Francisco until he can be cleared to travel.

There are at least two of us out there who think of JJ as a hero, probably many, many more. He is truly saving our lives! I have been so grateful and I am excited for Ian to have this second chance, too. JJ is one of a kind! Let’s band together and help him and his family through this incredible thing he is doing.
