Hello friends and family. This is my sweet husband, Jimmy Hanks. This is his story! In November, all this started. We had heart surgery and they got the heart to 50 percent output, that’s the normal rate. In May, our troubles started with an emergency trip to the hospital in Spartanburg! Spent 5 days, he had fluid around his heart and double pneumonia. Was there 5 days, sent home on meds. Two weeks later, back at the hospital with pneumonia, second time. No stay but sent home on strong meds. Better we thought, June was rough but no hospital. Then July 8th, he headed to work, had a bad spell, was not able to get his breath, drove himself to the hospital! We were concerned this was it. They took him in and we were there for 4 weeks. We found out his heart was back at 30 percent output. In this time, we learned his

heart was very unhealthy. He was unable to breathe, his heart was failing and he was in need of a heart transplant! Wow, what a bang to us. On Tuesday, they did a heart cath and Tuesday night we were headed to Charleston MUSC cardiac unit! July 30th, we were admitted in and tests were run, lots of tests. Lots of blood work, cardiac tests and you name it. As of yesterday, August 9th, we are officially heart transplant patients! Now we wait! We may have 2 to 3 months here or more. We will have copays for all outpatients tests, hotel for 6 days and a month or more stay here when he gets discharged! Food is outrageous! Everything here is expensive! We are not ones to ask for help but here we are. If you feel you can’t help us, please continue to pray for Jim that all goes well. If you can, whatever your heart feels is a blessing to both of us. With all this said, I love this man with all my heart and we plan on having a good 25 more years! Thank you all and may God bless each one of you!
