Hello, my name is Jessica Anderson Migues, better known as Jess to my family and friends. I was born with two very rare heart defects known as tricuspid atresia and pulmonary atresia. At 3 days old, I was flown from Shreveport, Louisiana, to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, and thus began the miracle of my survival to the age of 51. I have had four open-heart surgeries and learned in April that my heart is failing and I am in need of a heart transplant. November 3, 2025, I was asked to sign the paperwork to proceed with the necessary evaluation for transplant and met the Texas Children’s Hospital Adult Cardiology Transplant Coordinator. My family and I currently live in Stonewall, Louisiana, right outside of Shreveport, and we will need to move to Houston in the coming months to help better facilitate the transplant. My husband will be seeking a new job, and our fabulous 16-year-old son will need to be put into a special needs school in Houston.
The relocation, transplant, and family upkeep are going to cost a fortune.
Because of my medical status, once accepted onto the transplant list, I will be admitted to the hospital to wait out receipt of my new heart. The hospital only provides meals for me. I cannot be alone at the hospital, so Joey, my husband, or another friend or family member will have to be with me at all times.
Without a new heart, I will die in less than 18 months. I have always hated asking for help, but my family and I really need it right now.
Thank you,
Jess
