Support Jessie's TBI Recovery After Major Car Crash

Help Jessie heal!

Jessie Mae survived a serious auto accident last Sunday, April 6th. After the collision with all air bags being deployed, she suffered a severe traumatic brain injury, chest wall contusions, along with damage to her ribs, clavicle, abdomen, shoulders, neck and back. She is lucky to be alive and has a long recovery ahead of her. She is still discovering the extent of her injuries now ten days later. What she needs most is rest, and to minimize stress as much as possible. She is unable to return to work for the time being.

The $5,000 ask is to cover the cost of rent, bills, and living expenses for the next two months, so that she may be able to focus all her energy on healing her brain and broken body.

The biggest support friends and loved ones can offer right now is to contribute towards this goal and Jessie’s peace of mind. Every little bit helps.

A MESSAGE FROM JESSIE:

If you really knew me, you would know that I was in a terrible car accident a week ago.

Ending in a severe concussion and contusion throughout my sternum, neck and shoulders. Pinched nerve in my left leg. Bruised ribs and a swollen/numb left side of my face. Even though there’s no comparison to accidents, I could say that this might be equal or worse than getting kicked in the head and trampled by a horse 8 years ago. This would be my fourth severe concussion, but my second traumatic brain injury.

I know a lot of you are curious about how this happened. The short story is that it was an unfortunate accident, the weather conditions, windy roads, mudslides, hydroplaning and front tire getting stuck in the mud and the car getting thrown into a ditch I couldn’t get out of. Luckily, I was 10 and 2 and I was able to keep the car semi straight before hitting the trees.

I’m lucky to be alive and have strength to stand, talk and walk. This could’ve been a lot worse. I don’t ask for much and I struggle with asking for help but all I ask of you is to be patient with me and check in on your friends who have hidden disabilities. I may look fine on the outside, but I’m struggling with one of the biggest battles I’ve ever had to face. I’m trying to find the light in all of this darkness. I appreciate those who’ve been helping and who have reached out or stopped by to check in on me.

I read a quote that said ‘people who survive brain injuries don’t fake their illness. They fake being well.’ And I couldn’t agree more.

I definitely had guardian angels protecting me that night, one of them even woke me up. I still struggle with the why and how could this happen to me but there’s no rewinding and only moving forward at this time. Even though I am in a ton of pain and I lost my vehicle. I’m happy that I am still here to tell you guys all that I love you all.
