Help Jessica Fight Guillain-Barré Syndrome and Support Her Family
This holiday season brought unexpected challenges for my best friend Jessica, a compassionate nurse, and devoted mom to two beautiful babies, Myles (1) and Olive (4). Usually found at the hospital taking care of others, Jessica never imagined she’d become” a patient herself.
For months, Jessica struggled with worsening symptoms that were dismissed by multiple providers. Finally, she brought herself to the ER when progressive weakness, amongst other symptoms, made it impossible to ignore. After a series of tests and procedures, Jessica was diagnosed with Guillain-Barré Syndrome (GBS), a rare and serious condition where the immune system attacks the nerves, causing muscle weakness and paralysis.
Jessica underwent a lengthy hospital stay for IVIG treatment and was discharged, only to face worsening symptoms that brought her back for another lengthy hospital admission for plasmapheresis. Now home, Jessica is a total care patient, relying on others for even basic needs. Her recovery will be a long road with no clear timeline for returning to work.
This diagnosis has placed an immense physical, emotional, and financial burden on Jess and her family. With mounting medical bills, loss of income, and the added responsibility of caring for two young children, this holiday season has been especially overwhelming.
Jessica has always been the first to care for others, and now she needs help. Any donation will go toward medical bills and day-to-day expenses during her recovery. If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing her story to help spread the word.
Let’s come together to support Jessica and her family during this incredibly difficult time. Your kindness and generosity mean the world.
Thank you. ❤️
