Donate to Jerry's Life-Changing Surgery

If you know Jerry well, you’re probably aware of the ongoing back issues he’s been dealing with for years. Back in 2007, he was involved in a car accident that landed him in the ICU and set off a chain of complications with his back—multiple herniations, ruptured discs, nerve issues, chronic pain, and more. For nearly two decades now, he’s been living with constant pain and physical decline, which only seems to get worse each year.

Over the years, Jerry has seen pain specialists, physical therapists, and several neurosurgeons, but the damage to his back is so severe that surgery is now his only option. The last few years, in particular, have been incredibly tough for him, both physically and mentally. There have been times when he’s been bedridden, needing help with daily tasks, and constantly worried about making things worse. His pain has affected every aspect of his life, including his ability to work—he hasn’t been able to go into the office for the past couple of months, though thankfully he has the option to work from home.

As many of you know, Jerry is incredibly active and loves everything from backpacking to hunting to kayaking—really anything that gets him outdoors and into nature. So, it’s been especially difficult for him to come to terms with the physical limitations he’s facing at such a young age.

In the next few weeks, Jerry will be undergoing a two-level artificial disc replacement surgery (spinal surgery), and we’re currently just waiting on a date. He’ll need to stay in Austin for the surgery and will be on medical leave for at least six months, with a full recovery time of up to a year.

With all of that in mind, I’m reaching out to ask for help. If you’re able and willing to donate, it would mean the world to us.
