Earlier this year, my dad, Jerry Traverse, was diagnosed with facial cancer. Thankfully, it was caught in time, and the doctors were able to remove it entirely. He seemed to be in the clear; or so we thought.

He has recently been diagnosed with cancer in his left eye. As he begins treatment—including radiation, medical appointments, and necessary tests—he will be required to step away from work. Unfortunately, his company does not offer short-term disability, which means he will not have an income during this period.

This unexpected situation means a substantial loss of income for my dad as he is the primary earner. We are doing our best to support him emotionally and practically, but the financial burden is looming with bills, daily expenses, and the loss of income.

My brother, sister and I thought it would be helpful to put together a fund to help ease the stress and allow my parents to focus on my dads health and healing and during this time. Any support during this challenging time would mean a great deal to us.
