We are reaching out to ask for your kindness and generosity to support Jeremy Higgs, a dedicated husband, father, and community servant, as he embarks on a long and difficult road to recovery.

Jeremy is a devoted emergency medical practitioner with over a decade of experience serving the Chicagoland area, both in emergency departments and in field ambulance units. He has spent his career putting others first, providing life-saving care to those in need. But now, Jeremy needs our help.

Since February 2024, Jeremy has faced a relentless health battle after contracting blastomycosis, a rare and dangerous fungal infection. The illness caused severe complications, including pneumonia and systemic health issues. In October 2024, a tumor was discovered after Jeremy suffered a broken fibula, forcing him to undergo a rare, life-altering surgery.

The surgery saved his life but left him with nerve damage, partial paralysis, and a serious infection. He now requires intensive medical treatment, will be on medication for at least a year, and faces a long rehabilitation process to regain some mobility and adapt to permanent changes in how he walks.

After months of fighting to continue his work, Jeremy had to leave his position working with DCFS with a field agency in September 2024. With a one-year-old and a four-year-old at home, his inability to work has placed immense financial and emotional strain on his family.
