The reality of typing this is so unbelievable to so many. But here we are. Sometimes life throws the biggest curveballs to people who deserve nothing but the best. I am begging Jens friends, family, and our community to come together for Jen, Jagger, and Skip as they have done so much for all of us. It's now our turn to help them during this time of need.
On July 29, 2025, Jen went to the emergency room due to constant vomiting. At the age of 38, healthy, active, you're not thinking anything except that you probably have a belly bug and you'll be in and out. Inconvenient, not life changing. Unfortunately that's was not the case. July 29th was the day Jen was told she has a large rectal tumor and needed an MRI. The next day she met with oncology where she was only told the next two weeks were going to be filled with tests. Imagine it, in just one day your entire life flashes right before your eyes. The heartbreak, the fear, the unknown but the Jen that we know and love just pushed right on through it with nothing but bravery and a positive and optimistic outlook. In true Jen fashion, she's holding up everyone around her even during her time of crisis.
Fast forward to today, the reason why we are here. Our dear friend, coworker, daughter, community Samaritan, sister, most importantly, wife and mother, has been given a diagnosis of stage 4 colorectal cancer that has metastasized to her liver. All we know so far is that while her amazing team at Penn medicine is optimistic, she and her little family have a very long road ahead. On August 27, 2025 she will have a procedure to have a port placed, and will begin chemo on August 29, 2025. We are extremely grateful for an amazing doctor who she is comfortable with, and that they are moving very quickly.
We don't know what the road ahead will bring but what we do know is that a young woman who has spent her entire life serving our community, helping people always before herself, is getting ready to go through the fight of her life and she will absolutely kick cancers ass. But they need our help. Skip and Jen both work tireless hours and never ask for anything from anyone. Jen has been a volunteer with Singerly for 20 years in addition to working at Bear Glasgow Dental. She has also volunteered for Cecilton and North East fire house along with Diamond Roller Derby and Armed Combat fighting. This medical chaos is clearly draining them financially with Jen being out of work. This is something they should not have to worry about while focusing on Jen's Journey and attempting to maintain some level of normalcy for their 6 year old son, Jagger. They won't ask, so I will. If you are able to donate anything to ease some of the financial burden (medical costs, travel, cost of living in this crazy world, bills) we would be so grateful.
To know Jen is to love her. She is everybody's safe place. The best friend, mom, wife, daughter, and mother, a true light in this world. Chances are she's probably taken care of someone you love during her many years serving as an EMT in our community. Now is our time to take care of her.
If you are unable to help financially, there are other ways you can help. Meals, prayers and thoughts, good vibes, words of encouragement all go a very long way.
We will provide updates as often as we can! You can also follow along on Facebook - Jen's Journey
