Donate to Jenny and Ana's Stolen Car Recovery Fund

Dear community,

This past weekend, our car was stolen in front of our home here on Elmwood Avenue. Thankfully, it was recovered on Sunday but the rascals racked up quite a bill when it comes to repairs and loss of property.

The car currently has an upward estimate of $4,000 in damages, including but not limited to: a bent front south frame, needs a ignition and steering wheel console repair, a window replacement, replacement of the interior to one door, a shift lock repair, paint job, fabric replacement, and the car will need to be detailed.

We also lost $581.44 in property, including two brand new all-season tires and a Garmin GPS navigation system.

Because this was not an accident and theft, Ana and I have a $2,000 deductible that we need to meet before our comprehensive insurance kicks into cover the rest of repairs.

We already called Bernie Sander’s office and the Division of Insurance Consumer Services to see if there was ANY way we can pass this costs on (underinsured/uninsured policy kick in?)— nope!

With that, and to avoid debt and be able to move forward with the work, we are reaching out to our community to help us fundraise the costs involved here.

How we will use the donations:

First we will prioritize our deductible;

second create a fund for a rental car beyond 30 days, and

third, repurchasing lost items.

We are responsible for our rental car beyond our $900 allotment from our insurance; we were quoted that the car will be in the shop for at least 30 days due to delays in parts getting to garages.

We deeply appreciate any contributions at this time to help us get the ball rolling. We want to be able to confidently say YES to whatever needs to be done!
