Donate to Jennifer Ellison's Fight Against Leukemia

Never in a million years; Never in a million years would I have guessed this would become my life. My name is Jennifer Ellison and I am a career educator serving students and communities in Texas for over 20 years. In March, I was on a learning trip when I had a stroke. This stroke led to the diagnosis of Acute Myeloid Leukemia. This was when my world was turned upside down.

I successfully went through cycle 1 of an intense chemotherapy treatment. I was able to achieve remission. I immediately went into a second cycle of chemotherapy only to find out that the leukemia had come back during the cycle. The aggressive nature of this disease is why I am asking for help. I am in need of a stem cell transplant to have the best odds of surviving. The transplant requires 4 months being displaced from home and located at/or near MD Anderson Cancer center. Although 4 months does not sound long, that is on top of the 5 months I have already spent in battle.

My ask seems very large, or at least it does to this educator. The number represents the amount needed for direct and indirect costs of living to remain in the Houston area and the medical bills that just seem to multiply. I am a hard worker and have difficulty asking for monetary support of any kind. I am now faced with a situation where the need is larger than my hubris.
