Hello, this is Jackie, Jen’s mom. If you know her, you LOVE her! She’s always been a fighter, and now she will be fighting for a better life as she undergoes a liver transplant. So, the time has come for me to ask for help and support from our community, family, friends, and Bravehearts to please consider making a momentary donation to help cover medical expenses, travel, and living costs during this critical time.

Jen has faced a lifetime of health battles, yet for the most part, you would never know; she hid it well and was always the life of the party. It all started 30 years ago when she was 18 and diagnosed with Ulcerative Colitis. That disease led to hospitalization and surgery to remove her entire colon and large intestine. To our surprise, Jen woke up from recovery only to be told she had a rare liver disease called Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). This condition is chronic, and by 25, she learned there was no cure, only the risk of liver cancer or serious damage. Essentially, her inflamed colon pressed against her liver and narrowed the bile ducts, preventing bile from draining from the gallbladder and causing a lot of terrible symptoms. To make matters worse, two years later, she was diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease.

Jen has undergone several ERCPs, a procedure that uses a scope to access the bile ducts, clean them out, and insert stents for about four to five weeks before removal. This helped reduce her liver enzyme levels and made her feel better. In December, she had her last ERCP because, this time, it didn’t work. What happens next? Her brother Rob and sister-in-law Stephanie took her to Mount Sinai to consult her liver doctor for answers. The doctor indicated that it was time; the bile ducts were no longer functioning, her liver was at the cirrhosis stage, and it was time to meet with the team and begin her liver transplant journey.

I never imagined my daughter would have to fight for her life again. Jen is a warrior—resilient, compassionate, and unwavering in her love for others. She stands up for her family and friends, embraces her individuality, and is always there to support those in need, often putting others before herself. But in the past couple of years, she hasn’t been herself. Though she hides it well, she carries a silent struggle, longing to feel like herself again. Now, more than ever, she needs to focus on healing—not on the weight of financial stress. That’s why I’m asking for your support. A donation, no matter the size, will help relieve the burden so she can focus on what truly matters—her recovery. Please consider giving and sharing her story. Your kindness means more than words can express.

The past three months have been a relentless battle for Jen. An unsuccessful ERCP, a trip to NYC where she was told it was time for a liver transplant, and major surgery to remove a massive 1.2-inch kidney stone. And just when things couldn’t get any harder, she suffered a severe back injury. She jokes that it’s because she’s getting old, but the reality is far more serious—she bent down to put on her sneakers and couldn’t get back up. The pain was immediate and excruciating, like electric shocks running through her lower back, leaving her unable to walk. After further tests, doctors confirmed she had fractured a vertebrae. Now, she’s in a back brace, struggling to sit or stand for long periods, in constant, unbearable pain, and unable to work. The truth is, it’s caused by liver disease. It’s the wear and tear on her body and 23 years of medications and steroids.

Despite everything, Jen keeps pushing forward. Her wife, Mindy and I recently took her to Mount Sinai, where she met with her transplant team and powered through five back-to-back appointments in a single day. She has just a couple more tests left, and with her rare B+ blood type and a high MELD score, she will soon move to the top of the transplant list. We return on March 20th—then, we wait for “the call.”

This GoFundMe is to help with the mounting medical bills. She has already been hit with thousands in costs for routine visits alone, and with a total liver transplant costing around $800,000, the financial burden is overwhelming—even with insurance. She does have insurance and won’t be charged that full amount, but a significant amount is her responsibility. We all know the rising costs of healthcare, and how stressful it can be. Jen has fought so hard, and now she needs our help.

As Jen’s mom, I will do whatever it takes to help her—that’s why I created this page. Right now, our family is facing unimaginable challenges, and any support, big or small, means the world to us.

I know some of you might be thinking, “Wow, the Rosant family just keeps getting hit hard.” And you’re right. My husband, Bob, lost his right leg, and I’ve been caring for him while also helping Jen get where she needs to go. On top of that, my son is recovering from his second Achilles surgery. It’s been an incredibly tough road, but we keep pushing forward with faith and determination.

This Bravemom is calling on all Bravehearts, family, and friends to rally behind Jen—the boss—so she can get a new liver, be active again, and enjoy life to the fullest with her stepson, Travis, and her beloved niece and nephews.

We wholeheartedly believe in the power of prayer. Please keep Jen in your thoughts and prayers, that everything goes smoothly and that her strength carries her through yet another battle.

From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, support, and love. I’ll keep you updated on Jen’s journey every step of the way. Please share this page, I would greatly appreciate it.

God Bless all of you.

Love,
The Rosant Family
